Coke La Rock, Hip-Hop's First Emcee/Rapper Will Visit Atlanta on July 18th, 2025
Who is Hip-Hop's first ever MC/Rapper? Coke La Rock! Coke is also widely regarded as the Father Emcee, is coming to Atlanta on Friday, July 18th, 2025 for a once-in-a-lifetime event. Known as the first person ever to take the mic and "emcee" over breakbeats in the Bronx, Coke La Rock is the man who helped lay the foundation for the entire genre of Rap/Hip-Hop music. His visit to the city is a rare opportunity to experience the living legend who played such a critical role in hip-hop's birth.
This special event will take place at The Atlanta Theater from 7:00pm to 10:00pm where La Rock will engage in an exclusive live interview, meet-and-greet, and Q&A session.
Coke La Rock’s impact on hip-hop cannot be overstated. Born and raised in the Bronx, Coke La Rock was a key figure in the birth of the genre, alongside his childhood friend, DJ Kool Herc. It was during Herc's legendary block parties in the early 1970s that Coke La Rock first picked up the mic, delivering rhymes and chants over Herc’s groundbreaking breakbeats. This was the moment Hip-Hop was born, and Coke La Rock's role as the first official emcee made him one of the genre's most significant pioneers.
La Rock’s style was unique: his ability to engage and command the crowd through clever wordplay and rhythmic flow was revolutionary. He wasn’t just rapping; he was creating a cultural movement. From his iconic chants like “Throw your hands in the air!” to his distinctive, smooth delivery, La Rock set the blueprint for the emcee role in hip-hop.
On July 18th, Coke La Rock will share his story firsthand in a powerful live interview at the Atlanta, Theater. He’ll be joined by Lucky Bling, his business associate and renowned graffiti artist. The conversation will be led by Lord Owen.
DJ Aladdin will provide the perfect soundtrack, spinning classic tunes that reflect the golden era of Hip-Hop, setting the experience for a night to remember.
Ope Odumakin, founder of DailyRapFacts and co-founder of Stufinder, the app designed to help musicians find and book recording studios. Ope will speak on how he discovered Coke La Rock for their upcoming documentary "Bronx to the World."
For those who have been part of hip-hop culture for decades, Coke La Rock represents a connection to the genre’s very beginnings. His visit to Atlanta is more than just a performance or an appearance; it’s a celebration of the roots of hip-hop and the men and women who shaped it in the streets of New York City.
